[Newly Forged Sword] Noshu-jū Kanetoki / Auspicious Day in May, Reiwa 6 (2024)

Swordsmith Kojima Kanetoki (real name: Yōsuke Kojima) resides in Seki City, Gifu Prefecture.
Born in 1979 (Showa 54), he began his apprenticeship under his father, swordsmith Kojima Kanemichi, in 2002 (Heisei 14). In 2005 (Heisei 17), he completed the “Preservation Training Course for Swordsmith Techniques” and inherited the swordsmith name Kanetoki, which was originally used by his grandfather. Since then, he has pursued works in the style of Shizu utsushi and Sanbonsugi patterns, and in recent years he has been devoting himself to mastering the Mino tradition.

He is a craftsman in the lineage of the “Nihontō Denshūjo” (later “Nihontō Tanrenjuku”), where Master Swordsmith Watanabe Kanenaga served as head instructor. He directly inherits the traditions of pre-war and wartime smiths, tracing his lineage back to Kojima Kanemichi of the Kaji-no-kuni school. Today, he is regarded as one of the promising younger swordsmiths among the Seki smiths.

This sword was newly forged in 2024 (Reiwa 6) as an iaidō practice sword. Our company further refined it with grooves (hi) carved into the blade and specially crafted mountings (koshirae). The blade is well balanced, produces a clear sound, and all fittings are newly made. It has been completed as a sword we can confidently recommend.
