【Newly Forged Sword】 Noshu Hiromune / June, Reiwa 6 (2024)

Swordsmith Takaba Hiromune (real name: Hiroshi Takaba) resides in Seki City, Gifu Prefecture.
Born in 1954 (Showa 29), he began his apprenticeship in 1973 under his father, swordsmith Takaba Makoto, and was officially licensed to forge swords in 1978.

Since his first entry in the Newly Made Masterpiece Sword Exhibition hosted by The Society for Preservation of Japanese Art Swords  in 1978, he has received numerous awards, including one Special Prize, two Excellence Prizes, and four Effort Prizes.

From the beginning of his training, he has pursued the Soshu-den style of Shizu Saburo Kaneuji, and today he is recognized as one of the leading contemporary swordsmiths of Seki.
